(Updated) Protests calling for fair trial planned across the country after Kiara Agnew’s vacation death
At least six protests have been planned for 23-year old Dawson Creek woman Kiara Agnew, who was found dead in Mexico in 2023.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Two years after her passing, protests have been planned across the country for a 23-year-old from Dawson Creek.

Kiara Agnew, a young woman from Dawson Creek, was found dead in March 2023 in a Cancun resort while on vacation with her boyfriend, who has only been named as Ryan N by Mexican authorities.
He was allegedly found with blood on his clothes and was next to Agnew when her body was discovered.
Her body was returned to Canada a few weeks after the incident, with the family raising close to $30,000 for the expense.
In December, 2023, Agnew was one of two Peace River Region women to be honored as homicide victims during a vigil in Vancouver. Agnew’s partner was detained in Mexico, and later found not guilty of murder in a court in that country.

A petition was published on the website Change.org in October 2024 for ‘accountability, transparency and justice for Kiara Agnew.’ As of publication, the petition had received 1,647 signatures.
Now, two years after her passing, protests across the country have been planned, all advocating for a fair trial.
At least six peaceful protests have been planned for the weekend, starting with one on March 21st at 10 a.m. at the corner of 100th Street and 100th Avenue in Fort St. John.
Two are planned for the next day, March 22nd; one in Dawson Creek at 12 p.m. at 101 816 Alaska Avenue and one in Calgary, Alberta at 10 a.m.
On March 23rd three protests are planned in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Vancouver and Calgary.
