PRRD launches climate resiliency plan survey as natural hazards become ‘more frequent and intense’
The Peace River Regional District is holding a public survey about its Regional Climate Resiliency Plan (RCRP).

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — The Peace region is seeking the public’s help in creating a “climate-related hazards” plan.
According to a Peace River Regional District (PRRD) media release, communities in the Peace region are experiencing significant impacts from natural hazard events including wildfires, flooding, extreme heat, drought and storms.
“Climate change is making these events more frequent and intense,” says the release.
“This leads to damage to property, infrastructure, crops and forced evacuations.”
In response, a draft of the Regional Climate Resiliency Plan (RCRP) was created and presented to the PRRD board on March 6th.
“The plan will assess risks from climate-related hazards and help the region prepare for future events,” says the release.
It also outlines strategies to improve resilience and identify needed resources.
