Wildfire service seeks applications for 2025 filmmaker

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The BC Wildfire Service has announced the start of the application process for a documentary filmmaker for the 2025 wildfire season. 

Announced online on January 15th, applications will be accepted until February 7th. The intake process implemented by the service allows for better handling of the historically high volume of requests every year. 

“The intake process allows us to organize safe access, timely execution, and successful production for filmmakers in advance of a wildfire season,” the service stated.

Accepted applications will be reviewed by an internal panel for feasibility prior to selection. The service specified that government funding for independent film projects would not be applicable for the application. 

Application forms are available online, and can be sent to bcws.video@gov.bc.ca
