FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Below are the latest sentences handed down from the Fort St. John, Dawson Creek, and Chetwynd Provincial Courts, from January 6th to 10th.

Rajiv Ronio Chand (born 1999):

Chand was found guilty of driving while prohibited and/or with a suspended license, for an incident on August 27th, 2024 in Fort St. John. Chand was issued a 12-month driving prohibition, a $500 fine, and a $75 victim surcharge, which goes towards helping victims of a crime.

Chand was also issued a $500 recognizance after the allegation, for a charge of causing fear of injury and/or damage to a person and/or property, related to an incident in Fort St. John on July 12th, 2024. If Chand fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, he will have to pay the $500.

Kara Lynn Rouble (born 1983):

Rouble was found guilty of driving a motor vehicle without due care or attention, for an incident in Baldonnel on April 13th, 2024. Rouble was issued a 12-month driving prohibition, a $500 fine, and a $75 victim surcharge.

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, January 7th

Benjamin Kelvin Neil (born 1995): 

Neil was found guilty of mischief $5,000 or under and motor vehicle theft for incidents in Dawson Creek in November of 2023 and January of 2024. Neil was sentenced to a total of 28 days in jail and received an 18-month probation order.

Raymond Percy Peterkin (born 1987):

Peterkin was found guilty of two counts of breaching a probation order and three counts of breaching a release order, for incidents in Fort St. John between March and October of 2024. Peterkin was sentenced to jail time served and ordered to report for forfeiture, which allows the government to seize property and assets “tainted” by crime.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, January 8th

Lane Earl Foster (born 2000):

Foster was found guilty of impaired operation by alcohol or drugs for an incident in Fort St. John on June 16th, 2022. Foster was fined $1,000 and issued a $300 victim surcharge and a 12-month driving prohibition.

Chetwynd Provincial Court sentencing, January 9th

Harlen Wayde Davis (born 1970):

Davis was issued a $500 recognizance after the allegation for causing fear of injury and/or damage to a person and/or property, for an incident in Chetwynd on June 17th, 2024. If Davis fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, he will have to pay the $500.

Clayton Leon Paquette (born 1980):

Paquette was found guilty of driving without a license for an incident in Chetwynd on November 8th, 2023. Paquette was fined $400 and issued a $60 victim surcharge.

Owen Gordon Roberts (born 2000):

Roberts was issued a $500 recognizance after the allegation for causing fear of injury and/or damage to a person and/or property, for an incident in Chetwynd on October 29th, 2024. If Roberts fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, he will have to pay the $500.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, January 10th

Robert Alexander James Smith (born 1984):

Smith was found guilty of driving a motor vehicle without due care or attention for an incident in Fort St. John on November 21st, 2023. Smith was issued a $1,000 fine, a $150 victim surcharge, and a one-year driving prohibition.

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, January 10th

David Hofer:

Hofer was found guilty of contravening the orders of an officer for an incident in Dawson Creek on June 26th, 2020. Hofer was issued a $1,000 fine, a $150 victim surcharge, and ordered to pay $6,000 in restitution, which was donated to the Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation.
