Electoral Area B By-Election nomination process starts this week
The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) is reminding residents that nominations open for the upcoming Electoral Area B by-election this week.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) is reminding residents that nominations open for the upcoming Electoral Area B by-election this week.
The Chief Election Officer will receive the nominations between 9 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7th and 4 p.m. on January 17th, 2025.
The elected director will represent the electoral area until the term ends on October 17th, 2026.
On December 11th, 2024, the PRRD announced the dates for the election, including the nomination period and voting day.Â
The election comes after Jordan Kealy, Electoral Area B’s last director, was elected as Peace River North’s new MLA.
In October, Kealy secured a landslide victory in the 2024 Provincial General Election, taking more than 70 per cent of votes.
General voting day for the election will be February 22nd, and any applicable resident can apply for the position to serve as a member of local government.

To qualify for the position, nominees must be Canadian citizens, at least 18 years old, a resident of British Columbia, and not disqualified by the Local Government Act.Â
Nominations can be submitted by hand at the PRRD Head Office at 1981 Alaska Avenue,
Dawson Creek, or at the Peace River Regional District Fort St. John Office at 9505 100th Street.
