FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Peace River North’s Conservative Party candidate in the 2024 provincial election is expected to represent the area in the legislative assembly.

Jordan Kealy took more than 70 per cent of votes on Saturday.

In an interview with Moose Media, Kealy says he feels “shellshocked” by the results.

“It’s amazing seeing the support that’s come in and how many people have faith, thinking that I can represent them, and I’m looking forward to being able to fulfill that,” Kealy said.

Incumbent Independent candidate Dan Davies, who ran against Kealy, received roughly 20 per cent of the votes from electors in Peace River North.

Davies says the results suggest that people want change across the province and that there was “no taste for independent candidates” in the North Peace.

“It’s obviously not the result that I wanted,” Davies said. “I’m very proud of the work that I’ve done, my last two terms as the MLA. I’m proud of the work that I’ve done.”

The official final vote count will be released on October 23rd.
