Flyers triumph with 8-6 victory over High Prairie

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Fort St. John Senior Flyers enjoy something they haven’t in quite a while: back-to-back victories.

The Flyers started the 2025 calendar against the High Prairie Regals on January 4th at the North Peace Arena in North Peace Hockey League (NPHL) action.

An early-power play goal in the first period by the Regals’ Tristan Auger visitors ahead before Alex Nimmo responded seconds later, tying the game at one.

Fort St. John took the lead near the end of the first, on Giovanni Foschia’s first of the year, assisted by Zach Ryan and Seth Sutherland.

The Flyers went up by a pair a minute into the second on Josh Robinson’s second goal of the season before High Prairie, who lost 8-7 to Fort St. John back in December, came back.

Brandon McNabb and Braydan Auger responded for the visitors before Devan Greyeyes scored his first of the year, putting Fort St. John ahead by one 4-3 after two periods.

The Flyers would not relinquish their lead. Foschia scored again, and Nolan Lagace scored his eighth goal, as Fort St. John won by a score of 8-6.

Nimmo led the way with two goals and an assist, for three points. Other goal scorers included Zach Ryan, who scored his third of the season, and Cole Caillou, who had a pair of assists.

The Flyers will look to keep the momentum going in their next game, which is against the Grande Prairie Athletics on Thursday, January 9th.
