Suspicious death prompts major crime unit investigation in Mackenzie

The North District Major Crime Unit (NDMCU) has been deployed in Mackenzie after a suspicious death near the Litnit Creek bridge.

MACKENZIE, B.C. — The North District Major Crime Unit (NDMCU) has been deployed in Mackenzie after a suspicious death near the Litnit Creek bridge.

According to the BC RCMP, police first responded to a report at 10 a.m. on December 28th, 2024. 

The Mackenzie RCMP found the body of a deceased male lying just off Finlay Community Connector Forrest Service Road near the Litnit Creek bridge.

NDMCU will work closely with the Mackenzie RCMP and the BC Coroners Service throughout the investigation. 

Anyone who was in the area between 9 p.m. on December 27th and 10 a.m. on the 28th and may have dash-camera video footage is asked to contact the Mackenzie RCMP at 250-997-3288.
