GREENVIEW, AB. — The Municipal District of Greenview announced a new partnership with O’Leary Ventures on Monday to build a new AI Data Centre Industrial Park called “Wonder Valley.”

The project will be built in the Greenview Industrial Gateway (GIG) near Grande Prairie, in Alberta.

According to a December 9th media release from the district, Wonder Valley is set to become the largest AI Data Centre Industrial Park in the world and attract the attention of global investors.

The district says Wonder Valley will bring jobs and financial benefits and establish Alberta as a center of excellence in the AI data industry.

“This transformative project is both a monumental achievement for Greenview and a pivotal moment for Alberta, Canada, and North America in terms of global business investment,” says the media release.

Kevin O’Leary, Chairman of O’Leary Ventures and television personality, believes the new site will offer 7.5 GigaWatts (GW) of low-cost power over the next 5 to 10 years.

“Given existing permits, proximity to stranded sources of natural gas, pipeline infrastructure, water and a fibre optic network within just a few kilometres of the GIG, we will be in the ground and up and running sooner than any scale project of its kind,” said O’Leary.

The first phase of 1.4 GW will cost approximately US$2 billion, and redundant power will be rolled out in one GW increments annually thereafter.

The celebrity investor goes on to say the project’s total investment over its lifetime will be over $70 billion when considering infrastructure, power, data centres and ancillary structures.

“We want to deliver transformative economic impact and the lowest possible carbon emissions afforded to us by the quality of gas in the area, our efficient design and the potential to add Geothermal power as well.”

Alberta Premiere Danielle Smith describes the announcement as fantastic news, recognizing the province for its investment and innovation opportunities.

“I’m excited to watch this project unfold in the months and years to come,” said Premiere Smith.

O’Leary Ventures CEO Paul Palandjian says a core value of the project will be working with First Nations communities and creating a “mutually beneficial relationship” that honours the people and the land.

“Together, these factors create a blueprint for sustainability and success that can be recognized worldwide. This is the Greenview Model,” said O’Leary.
