Flash freeze warning issued for North Peace

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — North Peace residents are being warned to expect cold temperatures and slippery conditions throughout Tuesday morning.

Environment Canada issued a flash freeze warning for the BC Peace River North region, saying an “arctic airmass” impacting the region will cause temperatures to drop sharply during the morning of December 3rd.

“Residual water from melted snow will freeze and result in locally icy conditions,” the warning reads.

“Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.”

Residents are urged to take extra care as they walk or drive today due to higher-than-normal amounts of ice on sidewalks and roads.
