FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Below are the latest sentences handed down from the Fort St. John and Dawson Creek provincial courts from November 12th to 15th.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, November 12th

Cheyanne Lynn Macdonald (born 1989):

Macdonald was found guilty of breaching a probation order for an incident in Fort St. John on September 29th, 2023. 

Macdonald was given a conditional discharge, an 18-month probation order, and a $100 victim surcharge, which goes towards helping victims of a crime.

A conditional discharge means the record won’t show a conviction if a person meets the conditions the judge sets.

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, November 12th

Simon Scott Guilbeault (born 1977):

Guilbeault was found guilty of five counts of uttering threats for incidents in Dawson Creek that took place between May and June of 2023.

Guilbeault received five 12-month probation orders, was ordered to pay $500 in victim surcharges, and received five conditional sentences, which is a sentence to be served outside of jail under strict conditions, sometimes called “house arrest.”

Each conditional sentence issued to Guilbeault was for 30 days.

Charles David Meise (born 1963):

Meise was found guilty of two counts of uttering threats, breaking and entering to commit an indictable offense, two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, mischief $5,000 or under, pointing a firearm, two counts of possessing a firearm without license and/or registration, and causing a disturbance.

The charges were issued in relation to incidents that took place in Dawson Creek and Tumbler Ridge between December of 2022 and November of 2023.

Meise was sentenced to a combined total of 1,967 days in jail, and also received ten 12-month probation orders.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, November 14th

Kenneth Lorne James Hopkins (born 1986):

Hopkins was found guilty of assault for an incident in Fort St. John on January 13th, 2024. Hopkins was sentenced to jail time served and received a one-year probation order.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, November 15th

Christopher Lee Chipesia (born 1979):

Chispesia was found guilty of driving while prohibited for an incident in Fort St. John on October 3rd, 2023. Chipesia was issued a $500 fine, including a $75 victim surcharge, and also received a one-year driving prohibition.

Ronnie Thomas Field (born 1969):

Field was found guilty of using a firearm while committing an indictable offense for an incident in Halfway River on July 15th, 2023. Field was sentenced to jail time served and received a six-month probation order.

Christine Sarah Ann Leloup (born 1979):

Leloup received a $250 recognizance after the allegation for a charge of assault, related to an incident in Taylor on August 6th, 2023. If they break the conditions laid out by the court, they must pay the $250.
