Fort St. John recognizes firefighters for decades of service

Five Fort St. John firefighters were recognized for their years of service to the community during a meeting of council.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Five Fort St. John firefighters were recognized for their years of service to the community during a meeting of council.

On October 28th, Mayor Lilia Hansen and Fort St. John City Council presented five firefighters from the Fort St. John Fire Department with awards for their decades of service.

These awards included a 10-year award for Matt Dawes, who joined the department in 2014, and 15-year awards for Craig Faulkner and Christopher Austin, who have been firefighters in the community since 2010 and 2009, respectively.

Austin was not present at the council meeting, and the award was accepted by his three young children. 

Firefighter and Lieutenant Aaron Tjepkema was also presented with a 20-year award for his service as a firefighter in Fort St. John.

Captain Brent Morgan received an award for serving the community for 25 years since 1999.
