Student Vote BC reports results of “Student Vote” program
Nearly 180,000 school students participated in Student Vote BC, coinciding with the 2024 Provincial Election.

VANCOUVER, B.C. — Nearly 180,000 school students participated in Student Vote BC, coinciding with the 2024 Provincial Election.
According to Student Vote BC, 177,961 votes were reported on October 19th from 1,034 schools in all 93 electoral districts. Of all votes cast, 172,003 were valid, and 5,958 ballots were rejected.
Student Vote is an experiential civic literacy program that allows students to cast ballots in a parallel mock election and practice the habits of informed citizens.
There were many close races in the mock election throughout the province, where the results were determined by fewer than 30 votes.
The BC NDP won the popular vote among the students and won 44 seats. Meanwhile, the Conservative Party won 40 seats, meaning it would form the official opposition in an actual election.
The BC Green Party received 19.2% of the popular vote and won nine seats.
In the Peace River North and Peace River South electoral districts, the results of the student vote matched the real election, with Conservative candidates Jordan Kealy and Larry Neufeld winning the ridings.
