Annual sewer fee changes announced for Charlie Lake, Kelly Lake, and Rolla

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Residents in Charlie Lake, Kelly Lake, and Rolla are being alerted to upcoming changes to sewer system usage fees due to a new bylaw from the Peace River Regional District (PRRD). 

A sewage user fee bylaw was approved and enacted during the September 12th board meeting of the PRRD board of directors.

The new bylaw repeals a previous bylaw on the same subject and pertains to the communities of Charlie Lake, Kelly Lake, and Rolla. Starting January 1st, 2025, user fees in these communities will increase by approximately five percent annually.

The fee change applies to ‘all persons occupying property connected to the Charlie Lake, Kelly Kale and Rolla sewage system of the Regional DIstrict,’ according to the bylaw document. 

Annual charges for 2024 range from $319.56 to $639.12, depending on the type of property, dwelling, and connection. 

With an increase of five per cent a year, in 2026, the final year of the bylaw’s lifetime, annual user fees will range from $388.46 to $776.92.
