A 4.6-magnitude earthquake has been reported 61 kilometres west of Fort St. John.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — A 4.6-magnitude earthquake has been reported 61 kilometres west of Fort St. John.

The event occurred at 5:09 a.m. local time on Friday, October 4th, 2024. 

According to the Government of Canada, there are no reports or expectations of damage.

The largest earthquake in the region’s history was a 5.4-magnitude quake near Dawson Creek on April 14th, 2001. 

Four people have reported feeling the earthquake so far.
