Wind Warning issued for Peace River South region
Environment Canada is warning South Peace residents to be careful of strong winds Friday afternoon.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Environment Canada is warning South Peace residents to be careful of strong winds Friday afternoon.
The agency has issued a Wind Warning for the area, saying an “intense low-pressure system” is moving through northern BC.
“Moderate to strong southeast winds ahead of this system are expected to continue early this morning,” the warning, issued at 5:00 a.m. Friday, reads.
“As the storm moves inland today, a period of very strong westerly winds will develop in its wake.”
Environment Canada says hazards could include loose objects tossed by the winds, power outages, fallen tree branches, and cross-winds on highways affecting motorists in high-profile vehicles.
The agency’s hourly forecast says winds are expected to return to normal in Dawson Creek at roughly 10:00 p.m. Friday.
Other areas impacted by the wind warning include Prince George, McGregor, Chilcotin, Williston, Stuart-Nechako, and the Lakes District.
