In a social media post, Davies says the details surrounding the BC United Party’s deal with the Conservatives are still emerging.

“What’s clear is that BC can’t afford four more years of David Eby’s NDP,” Davies says.

Davies went on to thank local voters for their support and for allowing him to represent the riding since being elected Peace River North MLA in 2017.

“It’s been the greatest honour of my life to represent northerners – to fight for Fort St. John, the North Peace, and the Northern Rockies, and ensure our voices are heard,” he said.

Peace River South MLA Mike Bernier, also a member of the BC United Party, also called Wednesday a “crazy day,” and says BC United and the Conservatives are now in negotiations “under one party” to name the candidates in each riding.

Per the BC Conservative Party website, the current candidate for the Peace River South riding is Larry Neufeld.

“There are a lot of moving parts on this and I can’t comment any further yet but as soon as I can share more I will,” Bernier said. “Thanks as always for everyone’s support.”

Energeticcity.ca contacted both Davies and Bernier for interviews to learn more. Neither responded in time for publication.
