Serious Crime Unit Commander Aaron Whitehouse says the investigation relies heavily on information provided by members of the public.

“It is unlike investigations today where we can track people using their digital footprint,” Whitehouse says. “There is no surveillance to review, no banking records to follow or cell phone records to examine. There is little that would give us a clue as to where the Jack family went after they were last seen.”

According to police, the RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit has a dedicated investigator permanantly assigned to the Jack family’s case.

Much of the work on the case today involves comparing tips received recently against files with material recorded by the original investigative team.

The Prince George RCMP detachment says it’s still working with all its partner agencies and the public, and encourages community support in bringing forward new information to investigators.
