Fort St. John man arrested in Dawson Creek after trying to flee from police.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Fort St. John man arrested in Dawson Creek after trying to flee from police.
The RCMP apprehended a man after he fled from police mid-day and abandoned his vehicle in the centre of town.
On 1st July 2024, at approximately 12:00 p.m., a member of the Dawson Creek RCMP was making proactive patrols in the area of 102nd Avenue and 12th Street when a black sedan was spotted driving erratically.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled at a high speed, running a stop sign and a red light.
The vehicle was located a short distance later, abandoned and still running at the traffic circle entrance at Alaska Ave and 8th Street.
Multiple witnesses came forward and assisted police in successfully locating and arresting 46-year-old Terrence Gibson from Fort St John.
Gibson has been charged with Flight from Police, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Driving while Prohibited. Gibson also has a criminal record for possession of scheduled substances, failure to comply with release orders, theft and possession of scheduled substances for the purpose of trafficking.

The Dawson Creek RCMP applied to keep Gibson in custody, but the courts quickly released him into the community.
