Site C sees employment boost in May
According to the latest reports from BC Hydro, employment at Site C has seen another increase.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – According to the latest reports from BC Hydro, employment at Site C has seen another increase.
2,986 people reportedly worked at Site C in May, an increase of 178 people from April.
Of those workers, 437, or around 19 per cent, are primary residents of the Peace River Regional District, an increase of 26 people.

2,218 workers, 74 per cent of the workforce at Site C are primary residents of B.C., a statistic up by 126 individuals from April’s employment reports.
The number of women working at Site C also increased markedly in May, with 329 women reportedly working there in May compared to 272 in April.

The number of apprentices at Site C stayed the same from April to May, with 175 apprentices reportedly present at the site.

In May, the utility presented to residents in Fort St. John and Hudson’s Hope and revealed that filling for the Site C reservoir will begin late in the summer and last throughout the fall.
Once finished, the reservoir will be roughly three times as wide as the Peace River and 52 metres deep near the dam, with a depth of 18 metres in shallower areas near Hudson’s Hope.
