Highway 97 is closed near Powder King between Chetwynd and Prince George due to a collision.

UPDATED as of July 1, 2024, at 6 p.m. – The collision near McLeod Lake has been cleared. The highway is open in both directions.

UPDATED as of July 1, 2024, at 3:45 p.m.: The collision near Powder King has been cleared, but the collision south of McLeod Lake is still blocking traffic in both directions. The estimated time for the highway to reopen is 10 p.m.

CHETWYND, B.C. – Highway 97 is closed near Powder King between Chetwynd and Prince George due to a collision.

Highway 97 is closed in both directions between Powder King Road and Old Hasler Road.

At this time, there is no detour around the collision.

There is no estimate for when the highway will re-open.

Drivebc.ca, says the next update is expected at 5:30 p.m. MST.

There is also a second collision that is blocking traffic in the Pine Pass. There was a collision 25 km south of McLeod Lake. That collision should be cleared by 10 p.m. on July 1, 2024.
