Fort St. John Hospital closes emergency department temporarily

The Fort St. John Hospital emergency department will not be available to residents from 4 p.m. on June 1st to June 2nd at 7 a.m.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Hospital emergency department will not be available to residents from 4 p.m. on June 1st to June 2nd at 7 a.m. 

In a Facebook post on June 1st, Northern Health explained the interruption in service is due to a shortage in nursing coverage. 

The post noted that emergency is the only department impacted, and no other services at the hospital will be impacted.

Individuals in the Fort St. John areas requiring emergency services are instructed to call 9-1-1, and they will be transported to the nearest available facility.

Individuals seeking non-urgent care are encouraged to connect with NH Virtual Primary & Community Care Clinic for family doctors and nurse practitioners. The clinic is available between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. daily.
