RCMP sergeant confirms death in Dawson Creek vehicle mishap

One man has been pronounced dead after falling out of a moving vehicle in Dawson Creek, according to the RCMP.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — One man has been pronounced dead after falling out of a moving vehicle in Dawson Creek, according to the RCMP.

Sergeant Shawn Peddle with the Dawson Creek detachment says the incident happened at roughly 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 27th.

“There was a general duty member [of the RCMP] out conducting patrols, and he came across the incident,” Peddle explained.

“The female driver, at the time, I believe, was on the phone with 911 requesting an ambulance. He assisted her until the ambulance arrived.” 

The male, who reportedly fell out of the vehicle while it was moving, was then transported to Dawson Creek and District Hospital.

Soon after, Peddle says he was flown out to an unnamed hospital in Alberta, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Peddle didn’t provide any further details about the incident except to say the officer at the scene received a statement from the driver, which was later confirmed by surveillance footage.

He says the investigation into what happened is still ongoing.
