FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — BC Hydro is preparing to fill the reservoir at its Site C dam later this year, and it’s hosting some information sessions to help residents understand how that will affect the Peace River.

According to the announcement, filling the reservoir will lead to a significant increase in the river’s water line over the course of four months, ultimately making the river two to three times wider on average.

Two drop-in sessions will allow residents to speak to the team behind the Site C project and view some informational charts explaining the impacts of the reservoir.

Reservoir filling is scheduled to begin this fall, ahead of the project’s expected completion in 2025.

Employment has been declining at Site C over the last few months as the project nears completion, although February saw a slight uptick.
