DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) is looking for community involvement and collaboration as it develops a master plan for the North Peace Regional Park, also known as the North Peace Fall Fair Grounds.

The plan will guide future investment and development decisions at the park to ensure it serves and reflects the needs of communities in the region.

The PRRD will also be hosting several community input workshops in April.

“Together, we can shape a future for the park that honours its rich history and meets the evolving needs of communities in the region,” said the PRRD in a media release.

“As we embark on this exciting journey of developing a master plan for the [park], we look forward to continuing this legacy of community involvement and collaboration.”

Back in January, the PRRD board approved a recommendation from the Regional Parks Committee to have chair Brad Sperling work with staff, Area B director Jordan Kealy and the North Peace Fall Fair Society following the completion of a feasibility study on the park.

Expedition Management Consulting was awarded the feasibility study at a district board meeting in October 2023. The study costs $100,000 for a one-year term, which does not include replacements or repairs.

Located at 15177 Rose Prairie Road, the park is owned by the regional district and operated through an agreement by the North Peace Fall Fair Society.

The North Peace Fall Fair Society and the PRRD have previously had disputes over costs and repairs of the park’s facilities.

Residents and stakeholders in the Peace region are encouraged to share feedback through an online survey, which will be available until April 8th.
