DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — On January 25th, in Dawson Creek, a BC Highway Patrol officer confiscated a loaded shotgun, marking the second firearm seizure in the community this year.
According to BC Highway Patrol (BCHP), police received a report of a suspicious blue pickup truck in the area of 20th Street and 108th Avenue at 11:14 p.m.
Police quickly located the truck and arrested the male driver for possession for the purposes of trafficking.
BCHP says officers seized drugs suspected to be fentanyl, drug trafficking paraphernalia, cell phones and a loaded 12-gauge shotgun and ammunition.
The driver was also investigated for operating a vehicle while impaired, and the pickup truck was impounded for 24 hours.
BCHP says charges have not been approved, so further information on the driver will not be released at this time.
Police in Dawson Creek seized drugs, a carbine and over $1,200 in counterfeit money from a vehicle on January 16th after the driver fled from police.
