Multiple daily weather records broken in northeast B.C. on Monday
According to preliminary data from Environment Canada, Fort St. John, Dawson Creek and Fort Nelson all broke daily temperature records on January 29th.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Due to unseasonably warm weather, three communities in northeast B.C. broke daily weather records on Monday.
According to preliminary data from Environment Canada, Fort St. John, Dawson Creek and Fort Nelson all broke daily temperature records on January 29th.
In Fort St. John, the temperature reached a record high of 12.8 degrees. The previous record of 10.5 degrees was set in 1993.
A new record of 15.1 degrees was set in Dawson Creek, which was 2.2 degrees warmer than the previous record set in 1934.
Fort Nelson reached 13.5 degrees, setting a new record for January 29th. The previous record was broken in 2007 at six degrees.
According to Environment Canada, “a very mild airmass” has led to above-seasonal temperatures for many areas across the province, with 35 areas breaking or tying records on Monday.
Fort Nelson also broke a weather record on January 30th at 0.4 degrees. The previous record of -1.1 degrees was set in 1993
