Dawson Creek Emergency Warming Centre remains active for Monday, Tuesday

The City of Dawson Creek says its Emergency Warming Centre will remain active on January 22nd and 23rd due to the cold temperatures forecasted.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — The City of Dawson Creek says its Emergency Warming Centre will remain active on January 22nd and 23rd due to the cold temperatures forecasted.

The shelter was initially activated on January 12th due to the extreme cold warning issued by Environment Canada two days prior, when temperatures reached -40 C.

Dawson Creek community members in need of warming centre services can head to the Nawican Shelter at 1401 102 Avenue, 24 hours a day. The warming centre also offers light refreshments.

The city encourages residents to call 9-1-1 in an emergency.

Community members interested in helping or donating are asked to contact the warming centre directly.
