FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Fort St. John Huskies Stick it to Cancer game last November raised $2,000 for the FSJ Hospital Foundation.

The funds will be used for cancer diagnosis and treatment at the Fort St. John Hospital.

Traci Hammond, director of events for the Huskies, says the November 3rd game, which resulted in a 3-1 loss against the Dawson Creek Kodiaks, featured a raffle table with prizes donated from local businesses.

“The Butcher Block, the Hair Bin, the Fort St. John Fire Fighters Charitable Society and Street Legal Photography all donated prizes for our raffle table and silent auction,” said Hammond.

Hammond says the Huskies also donated a portion of the Stick it to Cancer game’s 50/50 and gate admission to the foundation as well.

Since 2000, the Huskies have donated over $10,000 to the foundation and hosted its first Stick it to Cancer game in 2018.

Kelly Amboe, executive director for the FSJ Hospital Foundation, says it’s “wonderful” to have ongoing support from within the community.

“The hospital foundation does work for each and every person who utilizes the hospital,” said Amboe.

“So, having various local businesses and even all the attendees at the game shows us that they’re aware of the work we do and support the work we do.”

Last year’s Stick it to Cancer game raised $1,300 for the foundation.
