Registration for Crystal Cup now open, volunteers still needed
Registration is now open for the Crystal Cup Pond Hockey Challenge and Sid Davis Youth Memorial, and volunteers are still needed to help out at the event.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Registration is now open for the Crystal Cup Pond Hockey Challenge and Sid Davis Youth Memorial, and volunteers are still needed to help out at the event.
The Crystal Cup has three divisions: open, sapphire, and coal.
A maximum of 40 teams can sign up for the open division for participants over 40. The sapphire division hosts ten women’s teams, and 20 teams of participants 40 and older can register for the coal division.
Registration is $400 per team with a $100 volunteer rebate offer.
The Sid Davis Youth Memorial consists of ten teams for under-7, under-9, under-11, under-15, and under-18. Youth registration is $10 per player, with a maximum of six per team.
Registration packages can be found online or picked up in person at Freedom Physio or Safety Boss Inc. Registration closes on February 9th.
Community members interested in volunteering at this year’s Crystal Cup can head to Mighty Peace Brewing Co. on January 21st at 6 p.m. for more information and to sign up.

According to Crystal Cup founder and event coordinator Neil Evans, planning for this year’s Crystal Cup is going slowly but smoothly so far.
“Of course, we always want to do something bigger and better. I think we’re going to see quite a few teams this year,” said Evans.
“We’re really trying to get the word out regionally and then even further and hopefully have a lot of outside teams join the crew. We’re hoping to max out all areas. And, of course, the kids’ event — we always want to make sure that is a blast for everyone involved.”
Spanning across ten rinks on Charlie Lake, the event takes place from February 23rd to 25th.
