Five northeast B.C. not-for-profits to receive $106,750 from gaming grants

Five not-for-profit organizations in northeast B.C. are set to receive a total of $106,750 from the provincial government through Community Gaming Grants.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Five not-for-profit organizations in northeast B.C. are set to receive a total of $106,750 from the provincial government through Community Gaming Grants.

The funding is part of a $18.2-million investment in arts and culture programs, the province announced on Monday.

The Fort St John North Peace Historical Society will receive $20,000, Stage North Theatre Society will receive $24,500, the Dawson Creek and District Band Association Community will receive $8,000, the South Peace Art Society will receive $50,900, and the Peace – Liard Regional Arts Council will receive $3,350.

The province also announced that $11.2 million will be provided to parent advisory councils.

In Northeast B.C., 39 parent advisory councils will receive a portion of the funding, including Charlie Lake, Fort Nelson, Hudson’s Hope, Taylor, Fort St. John, Chetwynd, Pouce Coupe, Tumbler Ridge and Dawson Creek.

Every year, the province provides $140 million to not-for-profit organizations throughout B.C. through Community Gaming Grants.
