Fort St. John Bull rider continues consistent performances at latest event

Bull rider Jake Gardner finished third at the George Paul memorial bull riding event in Texas this past weekend

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Fort St. John’s bull riding sensation Jake Gardner put together another solid performance this past weekend.

Gardner, who currently lives in Alberta, travelled to Del Rio, Texas, to take on the competition at the 48th annual George Paul Memorial Xtreme Bull Riding event on April 24th and 25th.

Gardner, who was ranked as high as number one in the world by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA), rode to a second-place showing, finishing behind champion American Tristen Hutchings.

He collected $4,048 from his performance in the finals on April 25th. 

Gardner now ranks third in 2026 among bull riders, with $99,272 in winnings this year by the PRCA.

The George Paul Memorial event is named after Paul, a champion bull rider who won the 1968 Rodeo Cowboys Association world championship.
