Local cowboy to compete in PBR Dawson Creek

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Fort St. John cowboy Jake Gardener is gearing up to compete in the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) event in Dawson Creek next week. 

Gardner says he anticipates wrapping up his season at the event. 

“It’d be nice to get it done with and hopefully finish the season strong and then have some downtime after,” said Gardner.

Reflecting on the rodeo season, Gardner says this year was one of his best for bull riding. 

“There’s been some ups and downs for sure,” Gardner said. 

“A highlight from the season was winning the [SMS Equipment Pro Tour Finals] in Armstrong [in September].”

Earlier this month, Gardner competed in the Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR) in Red Deer, finishing with an aggregate (AGG) rank of sixth place. He earned $9,935.95 in CFR round earnings, bringing his season earnings to a total of $56,592.83.

PBR Dawson Creek kicks off on Saturday, December 2nd, at the Ovintiv Events Centre. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the bulls will be ready to buck at 7 p.m.
