Behind the Scenes
Last week was Media Literacy Week which is an annual event promoting digital media literacy across Canada. Along with the FSJ Literacy Society, we shared some information on what media literacy is and how you can practice it.

In our current age of the internet, it’s important to know that you can trust the news you are reading. For a while now, the news industry has been struggling to keep afloat. A prime example of this is the closure of the Alaska Highway News and the Dawson Creek Mirror earlier this month. If you believe in journalism and want to ensure it continues in our region, a great way to do so is by becoming a Supporter.

It’s always interesting to see what the readers of Energeticcity.ca are most interested in the region. Sometimes it’s a big decision that will impact property taxes, and sometimes it’s a new restaurant coming to town. Here are the top stories for the week of October 22 to 28, 2023:
- Whole Wheat & Honey For Sale: after serving the community for 13 years. We also took the time to delve into the history of the building and location.
- DC RCMP Officer Transported to Hospital: after sliding on black ice while responding to a three-vehicle incident near Briar Ridge.
- Snowy Conditions Contributing Factor in Vehicle Collision: on the South Taylor Hill on October 22. The drivers of both vehicles and a passenger were taken to hospital for medical assessment.
