ICBC, RCMP share tips on staying safe on Halloween
ICBC and the RCMP have shared some tips so everyone can have a spooky but safe Halloween.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — ICBC and the RCMP have shared some tips so everyone can have a spooky but safe Halloween.
According to ICBC, on October 31st, an average of 250 people are injured, and one person is killed in 830 crashes in B.C. each year.
ICBC’s driving tips include reducing speed, avoiding distractions, yielding at crosswalks, practicing patience and expecting the unexpected.

The insurance corporation recommends trick-or-treaters wear reflective gear, plan a safe route and follow the rules of the road, such as only crossing at crosswalks.
ICBC asks adults to plan a safe ride home if their festivities involve alcohol, and if the activities include fireworks, only light them in a secure location.
The RCMP also recommends travelling in groups or with an adult, using a flashlight, ensuring children have emergency contact information with them, inspecting treats at home before eating, avoiding face masks and leaving fake weapons at home.
