FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Fort St. John Professional Fire Fighter’s Association received its largest one-time donation in August.

A total of $60,000 was donated to the association from this year’s Charity Pro-Am Golf Tournament, organized by Bold Promotions.

“It blows me away that we received this much,” said the association’s president Brent Morgan.

“But when you sit down and think about it at the end of the day, it shouldn’t because we live in the best community with people with the biggest hearts that just keep giving. And it’s not just to our charity, but to all the charities throughout the community that everyone steps up and supports.”

Morgan says the funds will be distributed into different programs the association has available for the community, including travel assistance for families in need and the annual Christmas Drop. 

Held in August, the annual Charity Pro-Am Golf Tournament gives golfers a chance to compete with the pros. Anyone is welcome to participate. After paying a team registration fee, a professional golfer joins each team to compete in the three-day tournament.

According to Bold Promotion’s Facebook page, Illirian Zalli won this year’s tournament. 

This was Bold Promotion’s fifth consecutive year as the tournament’s major sponsor.

Last Spring, Jordan completed her first season providing play-by-play for Trinity Western University Women’s Hockey and gameday hosting for BCHL Coquitlam Express.

Jordan enjoys radio anchoring, creating and editing video content, and hopes to one day pursue a career in investigative journalism as well as producing documentaries.
