Hudson’s Hope RCMP is warning of a scam occurring in the community regarding a caller with a CIBC caller ID.

HUDSON’S HOPE, B.C. — Hudson’s Hope RCMP is warning of a scam occurring in the community regarding a caller with a CIBC caller ID.

According to the police, the number starts with 1-866-760 and has been using different numbers for the last four digits.

So far, there have been reports of 1-866-760-5677 and 1-866-760-3891, but police say there may be others.

Officers advise residents to be cautious of the information shared or not answer the phone.

Questions or concerns about bank accounts can be directed to the phone number on a bank card or bank statement.

According to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, over 57,000 victims lost approximately $531 million to fraud in 2022.
