Early morning fire quickly extinguished by Fort St. John firefighters

The Fort St. John Fire Department quickly contained and extinguished townhouses on fire early Wednesday morning.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Fort St. John Fire Department quickly contained and extinguished a fire at townhouses on 102nd Avenue early Wednesday morning.

Deputy fire chief Daniel Simpson says four firefighters arrived on scene at 3:01 a.m. to find a fire inside and outside a residence.

Shortly after, two apparatus and seven more firefighters arrived to assist.

Simpson says the exterior fire was quickly extinguished before crews entered the building and extinguished the remaining fire.

He adds that two townhouses were attached to the main residence that was on fire, but due to the swift response by the firefighters, they were able to contain the fire to the original house.

The fire department and the RCMP are investigating the cause of the fire.

No one was at the residence at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.
