UPDATE: Highway 97 reopens after planned ignitions for Stoddart Creek fire

UPDATE (7:23 p.m.): The highway has reopened.

WONOWON, B.C. — Highway 97 was closed between Beatton Airport Road and Mile 80 Frontage Road for 1.6 kilometres for planned ignitions.

The location of the closure was approximately 40 kilometres south of Wonowon.

According to BC Wildfire Service, the ignition was conducted to help control the south flank of the Stoddart Creek wildfire.
