FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Former Fort St. John Huskies’ captain Cayden Frenette is headed to Wisconsin after signing with the Marian University Sabres.

Frenette says he is looking forward to playing university hockey and will work towards his construction management degree in the process.

“It’s been a goal of mine ever since I was a kid to go play at a school anywhere, get an education, and keep playing for four more years,” said Frenette.

Frenette finished his last season with the Huskies in April and says he is sad to say goodbye to his teammates.

“They’ve become my family over the years. I played with pretty much all my best friends,” said Frenette.

Frenette says he must also adapt to not having Huskies head coach, Todd Alexander.

“[He] is a pretty good coach. It’s going to be a change-up, not having him there, but I think it will be good either way.”

Marian University is located in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, and Frenette says he will make the move south sometime in August.
