DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Another dating app robbery occurred on Thursday, mirroring the pair of robberies from March.

The latest robbery occurred on April 13th in Dawson Creek, when the target was contacted through the dating app Grindr, and a meeting was organized. The suspect would meet the victim briefly, then one or two accomplices would arrive at the location and rob the victim.

Police put out a warning over three weeks ago about two similar robberies where Grindr was used to lure the victims. Mounties believe there may be more victims of similar robberies.

“This is a very target-specific group, and victims may be very reluctant to report,” said Corporal Graham Hartl, Dawson Creek RCMP.

The detachment recommends meeting in a safe, neutral public space when meeting someone off of a dating app.

Victims of robberies are asked to call the Dawson Creek detachment at 250-784-3700.
