Over $250K to Northeast B.C. for Northeast B.C. projects

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The provincial government is providing over $250,000 to three projects in Northeast B.C., focusing on economic diversification and infrastructure improvements. 

Through the Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program’s (REDIP) 2022/2023 intake, the province is doling out as much as $33 million for projects across B.C. For next year’s intake, the province is doubling the funding to $66 million.

According to a release from B.C.’s Ministry of Jobs, the program supports rural, remote, First Nations, and not-for-profit organizations by helping them diversify and grow their economies.

The Northeast Aboriginal Business Centre (NEABC) in Fort St. John is receiving $100,000 for the Tsaa? che ne dane Cultural Tourism Strategy for economic capacity, according to the Government of British Columbia.

In Chetwynd, the Mistahiya Development Corporation is receiving $100,000 for capacity building through shared human resources services.

The Tumbler Ridge Ridge Riders Snowmobile Association is receiving $51,200 to improve the Wolverine Trail and shelter location.
