Wanted woman arrested after assault

A Fort St. John woman was arrested by police after entering a store and assaulting an employee days after being let out on bail.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — A Fort St. John woman was arrested by police after entering a store and assaulting an employee days after being let out on bail.

Repeat offender Erin McKinnon was released on bail last week after being wanted on multiple charges, including assault with a weapon, uttering threats and theft under $5,000. A couple of days later, she was arrested again for another alleged assault.

On April 2nd, 2023, the Fort St. John RCMP received a report from a local retail store employee after McKinnon had allegedly assaulted them.

The employee knew McKinnon and requested she leaves the store due to her shoplifting in the past.

The employee followed her through the store and was then assaulted by McKinnon.

The following day, officers located McKinnon and arrested her. She is now facing additional charges, including uttering threats, assault and breach of release order.

McKinnon was held for court, where she was placed in custody until April 5th, 2023, for her next appearance.
