FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Child Development Centre in Fort St. John is gearing up for its 50th annual talent show, starting Friday evening at the North Peace Cultural Centre.

Community members have a chance to support the CDC as the funds from the talent show will be going towards fixing the roof of one of the centre’s older buildings.

Admission to the talent show will be by donating cash or a cheque for the CDC or non-perishable food items for the local food bank.

The board of directors will have a canteen with tacos in a bag, hot dogs, chips and goodie bags available for purchase. There will also be a photo booth for families, available by donation.

In February, executive director Tana Millner said most of the centre’s funding is from the Ministry of Children and Families, and the rest is through fundraising.

“Anything extra you see at our centre’s building, all of that was done by donations and sponsorships,” Millner said.

Doors for the 50th talent show open at 5:45 p.m., and the show begins at 6 p.m.

The show will also be live-streamed on the CDC’s website.

The talent show is one of two main fundraising events for the CDC. Their annual golf tournament will be held later in the year.
