Hudson’s Hope-On Wednesday, May 4th, during Emergency Preparedness week, Hudson’s Hope Fire Chief Brad Milton and Hudson’s Hope RCMP Detachment Commander, Cpl Rob Gardner joined forces by conducting a check stop on Beattie Drive in Hudson’s Hope.
As we are rolling into Fire and flood season, it was a good time to talk with people about being prepared for an emergency, stated Cpl Rob Gardner. A few locals recalled 2014 when the community was evacuated for a forest fire and how important it is to be prepared, just in case
During the check stop, approximately 100 vehicles were stopped and provided a leaflet with information about emergency kits and best practices of how to be prepared. Also information about the North East Emergency and Public Alerts system was provided.
It was coincidence that the province sent out their emergency notification the same day we were promoting the North East BC Emergency and Public Alerts system, but it was good for us to enforce that these systems are out there and work. The North East BC emergency and public alert system will advise you of information about anything from boil water advisories to flood and fires, once you are signed up. You can be texted or e-mailed the information you need, added Chief Brad Milton.
All residents are encouraged to make sure they are prepared for any kind of emergency. The following links are excellent resources:
