Tender awarded for North Peace Arena roof replacement
FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – City council has awarded the tender for the 2022 North Peace Arena roof membrane replacement to the only bid, DM Henderson Roofing Ltd. from Dawson Creek.
The total tender price is $1,167,157. With engineering fees of $43,798, the total cost of the project is $1,210,955.00.
Though funded in part by a Canada Infrastructure grant of 385,000.00, this project remains over the council’s original budget of $1,035,000.00 and required the approval of $175,955.00 in capital reserve to cover the remainder.
There are two components of this project: the larger roof and the lobby roof. The large roof, over the rink and seating area, is in urgent need of replacement and leaks in four places. The smaller roof does not leak yet but has large areas of resting water currently damaging the roof.
The building has been scheduled to be closed from the end of June until the end of September to allow for this work to be completed.
