FORT ST. JOHN B.C. – North Peace Grizzlies Senior Boys and Girls have arrived home with their heads held high despite the results of this year’s provincial tournaments.

The North Peace Senior Boys Basketball Team were at the Langley Event Center from March 9th to 12th for the provincial championships.

The weekend started out challenging for the Grizzlies, losing grade eleven big man Chaste Cunningham after rolling his ankle in the shootaround the day before the event. The team rallied around and stepped up to play competitive games against solid teams but could not put together a complete game, ultimately going 0-4 for the week.

According to athletic director Jaclyn McNicol, the coaching staff were incredibly proud of the team for the progress made over the season and for being selected as the most sportsmanship team.

North Peace Senior Girls travelled to Langley for the 76th Annual AAAA BC Girls Provincial Championships from March 2 to 5th.

North Peace went into the tournament excited and ranked 15th but finished 16th, according to McNicol. She says the team faced the most competitive basketball players in B.C. and demonstrated heart and hustle, finishing the tournament 0-4. The team was awarded the most sportsmanlike team award at the end of the tournament.
