UPDATE:  The SJA Promo advent calendar campaign raised a grand total of $8,050 for the FSJ Firemans Charitable Society, over $1,000 more than the preliminary amount reported last week.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Firefighters Charitable Society has raised $7,000 for the society by selling advent calendars.

The society says the funds will be saved and used towards projects like the Burn Fund and the Big Christmas Drop Off.

Home Hardware, SJA Promos and the AFDE group came together to produce the calendars, which were then sold at local businesses such as Home Hardware, Beard’s Brewing and SJA Promos.

The Advent Calendar features an FSJ firefighter rescuing the big man in red from a chimney.

In the background, the Home Hardware store is visible along with the AFDE Group crane working on the Site C dam.

The calendars were designed by Carolina Galdamez of Atonita Draws, a local graphic designer.

“We are always overwhelmed by the support of our community and not only will the funds raised make a big difference in our community, knowing that families will be learning about holiday fire safety as they enjoy their daily dose of chocolate makes it even better!” said Brent Morgan, President of the FSJ Firefighters Charitable Society.

The FFCS helps to raise money to provide financial support to local families who face medical travel expenses, and it provides support to burn survivors through the BCPFFA Burn Fund.
