FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The day after nominations closed for the upcoming federal election, an unlikely party has been brought into the fold in Northeast B.C.
According to Elections Canada, Phil Hewkin, with Canada’s Fourth Front, is listed to represent the party in the Prince George—Peace River—Northern Rockies riding.
No information on Hewkin can be found on the party’s website or through a quick web search.
The Party’s website says it’s looking to ” shake up the status quo and the moribund Canadian politics.’
“We are trying to open up Canada’s Fourth Front (CFF) as an alternative to three main parties,” states the party’s website. “The benevolent Green Party that really believes in the good of the planet has not been able to make headway since its launch because of the Canadian population that plays the division card so hard.”
This is the party’s first federal election after launching in 2019.
The party’s platform includes the following according to its website:
The close of nominations for candidates was Monday, but a complete list of confirmed candidates will be available on September 1st.
Other candidates who plan on running in the northeast riding include incumbent Conservative MP Bob Zimmer, the Maverick Party’s Dave Jeffers, the NDP’s Cory Longley, the Green’s Catherine Kendall, the PPC’s Ryan Dyck and Liberal candidate Amir Alavi.
Advanced voting takes place for four days, starting September 10th.
Election day is September 20th.
