DAWSON CREEK B.C. – The New Democratic Party announced their northeast B.C. candidate Tuesday evening.
Cory Longley will represent the party on September 20th as the Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies candidate. Annie Bonazzo had also put her name forward to run and will work with Longley throughout his campaign.
“It is time for a change in this riding, and our campaign starts now. Together we can end the conservative’s 49-year stranglehold and elect a government that works for people,” said Longley in a Facebook post announcing his nomination.
So far, Conservative incumbent MP Bob Zimmer, and Maverick Party Dave Jeffers have begun on the campaign trail despite no candidates officially confirmed in the riding.
Catharine Kendall, out of Prince George, is listed as the candidate for the Greens and ran for the party in the 2019 election.
Potential candidates have until Monday to complete the nomination process. A complete list of confirmed candidates will be available on September 1st.
Advanced voting takes place for four days, starting September 10th.
Election day is September 20th.
